How was your experience in the Neuroscience Research Lab? How did it contribute to your academic or professional development?

My experience in the Neuroscience Research Lab significantly contributed to both my academic growth and professional development. Weekly interdisciplinary meetings with various departments broadened my perspective and enhanced my collaborative skills. Under the guidance of Dr. Akshay Anand, I learned valuable lessons on effective project management, handling challenges, and maintaining consistent progress to meet goals on time. Additionally, the mental growth and meditation sessions promoted by our mentor greatly supported my personal well-being and strength, encouraging a balanced approach to both work and life.

What was your PhD thesis in or research work? Timeline?:

My PhD research focused on age-related macular degeneration (AMD), where I investigated genetic factors contributing to the onset and progression of the disease in human patients. Through genetic screening and clinical data analysis, I aimed to identify correlations between new genetic markers, disease severity, and the socioeconomic status of North Indian patients. The study also evaluated the impact of treatments on clinical outcomes, contributing to a deeper understanding in AMD.
