Tell me briefly about yourself.
I believe that our actions speak louder than our words. I prefer working in a group, as it can get very boring when working alone. I like to spend my free time sleeping, and if not, I would be found reading fiction. I like listening to all kinds of music (depending on my mood), watching cricket, and travelling to new places.
How was your experience in the Neuroscience Research Lab? How did it contribute to your academic or professional development?
Working in Neuroscience Research Lab has helped me in understanding the importance of time management and providing quality, development of communication and people skills.
What are your Research interests?
Neuro-ophthalmology and immunology
What are your current affiliations?
Medical writer at Syneos Health Canada
What was your PhD thesis in or research work? Timeline?
Thesis: The role of bone marrow derived Lin-ve cells in recovery of experimentally induced retinal ischemia in mice (July 2010 – April 2016)
The current treatments for retinal ischemia are limited. My PhD research involved establishment and validation of a mouse model of retinal ischemia by occluding the pterygopalatine artery, which provides blood supply to the retina, and subsequently to investigate the impact of transplantation of mouse bone marrow-derived stem cells in the animal model.
