Dr. Vinay Nangia completed his undergraduate medical education in Nagpur.He did a fellowship in Vitreous and Retina at Sankara Nethralaya in Chennai and joined as a consultant member in the vitreoretinal faculty.

Thereafter he worked at Manchester Royal Eye Hospital and at Aberdeen Royal Infirmary and was elected Fellow of the Royal College of Surgeons and Royal College of Ophthalmologists. He did a fellowship in Glaucoma at the Massachusetts Eye and Ear Infirmary, Harvard University, Boston, U.S.A.

He founded the Suraj Eye Institute on his arrival in Nagpur.  He is the chief investigator for the Central India Eye and Medical Study and the Central India Children Eye Study. He has a keen interest in research and his main area of research is Glaucoma.
