How would you explain your research in 3 sentences to someone who is not in science?

The current treatments for brain stroke are limited. Therefore, I will check if the stem cells can be used as therapeutics in stroke and stroke related ischemia by first creating the mouse model and then validating the potential of stem cells before it can be translated to clinics.

More about you

I believe that our actions speak more than our words. I prefer working in a group, as it can get very boring when working alone. I like to spend my free time by sleeping and if not, I would be found reading fictions. I like listening to all kinds of music (depending on my mood), watching cricket and travelling to new places. If I would not have been doing PhD, I would have been in teaching.

About your work

My PhD research involves creating a mouse model of stroke and stroke related retinal ischemia. It involves occluding the pterygopalatine artery, which will stop the blood supply to the eye. The next part is to see the potential of stem cell transplantation after ischemia and hence, its use in therapeutics for ischemia.
