How would you explain your research in 3 sentences to someone who is not in science?
The current treatment strategies for neurodegenerative diseases provide only symptomatic relief. Stem cells have the potential to regenerate lost neurons and could provide a successful treatment for such neurological diseases like Stroke, Parkinson’s disease, Alzheimer’s disease.
More about you
Academically I have not been among the toppers and I really don’t like to read a lot about anything. I believe in creating knowledge for others and I am hopeful to achieve it some day. I love to travel to different parts of my country and click photographs. If I were not in neuroscience, I would’ve been working at a national park and studying behavior of birds.
About your work
We worked on the problem of regenerating the damaged neurons in mouse retina by transplanting bone marrow derived stem cells in rodent eyes. We successful created an injury model and we found that Lin-ve BMCs get incorporated into laser injured retina after transplantation. Currently, I am post doctorate fellow in University of South Carolina, USA.
